Surprisingly there has been much in the way of reported activity.

Over the last 35 years many visitors have approached tour guides enquiring who the young lad dressed in brown trousers and jacket, wearing a peeked cap was that they had seen by a cascade of rubble. This is believed to be the young boy who had been sent in the cavern to warn the men of the impending explosion but sadly didn’t get to raise the alarm and died along with 47 others when the tunnel caved in.

During tours, many people have freaked out by the collapse and left unaware of the tragedy that belies the unassuming location. The sound of a mechanical equipment has been heard despite there not being any machinery inside. Paul Coldwell who works in the museum often hears his name called only to discover blank faces when asking colleagues what they wanted. All the guides that have been hired and trained have received a training pack to learn, then receive a tour. They are then expected to return and walk the caves alone to familiarise themselves with the cave complex. Almost everyone who has been sent down returns after 15-20 mins, asking Steve what he wanted having heard someone calling.

A tale of a young girl aged 10 who fell in love with the horses of the quarry when visiting family, would groom and talk to them. It is believed that it is her perfume which has been smelt. Last year, every morning at 10.00am Steve would down at the caves unlocking the doors and as he got down into the caves, he would notice the scent of Lavender, the origin of which could not be found, and yet later on his return the odour would be gone. This happened almost every day, but this year it hasn’t been smelt.

Catching the attention of the group Steve shared the paranormal experiences people have had on site

The Recce

From the audio recording it was evident that audio matrixing would need to be considered with the sound of dripping water, and the natural resonance of sound within the cave being easily mistaken for incoherent whispering, however with the use of audio software some sounds captured should be able to be made clearer and easier to identify as a voice to that of environmental sounds.

Abbie rounded a corner and immediately crouched down as if suffering from bad stomach pains, shaking, the energy hitting her like a truck, only to discover later that this was where the tunnel had collapsed due to the explosion of 1758 where 47/49 lives were lost, their remains interned among the rubble and Abbie had obviously sensed the residual impact. As the she and Kelly walked back to the entrance where a tour was taking place, 1a clear whisper was captured that seems to ask, “who dies Poppy?”.

Walking onward to another area, among the trudging footfalls on wet sediment 2a male voice was captured that said, “nice face”.

Turning corners and walking further, the women reached an area of the underground tunnels where Abbie saw someone sitting/crouched over. Then while trying to photograph William Cawley’s name on the wall she saw someone move across, blocking out the light and as she described this to Kelly 3a male guttural sound was captured. This was also the location where Abbie had heard whistling behind her.

Nearing the stonemason workshop where tallow candle scorch marks are visible 4a voice was captured that cried out “boom”.

In the location of where the name C. C. Gush is found, another disaster that took place claimed lives and is also where Abbie felt anger. This could have been the residual anger felt by those who would have pulled the rubble away in an attempt to rescue those trapped and injured or recover the bodies of the dead?

Catching up with Steve Rodgers, the manager, he guided the two women to an area not to be ventured in and shown a crawl space that revealed part of the collapse where an old lunch box dating back to the 17th century had been found. Could this have been the lunch box of one of the workers who had died in the collapse?

Behind the Colyton tracer, a network of tunnels is sealed off, their entrances in the car park which have been a long time buried. There are other tunnels by the car park that haven’t been walked in for over 500 years that will hopefully be excavated at some point.

Guided Walk Round With Steve Rodgers.

Steve accompanied Abbie on a walk through the caves. In one location he pointed out the Vestry, a small area, where preparations for services would have taken place. An area slightly of the beaten track and not often visited. Steve himself has yet to investigate with his metal detector and is where Abbie sensed a strong energy change, described as high anxiety, which would make sense; the fear of being discovered by King Henry VIII men and facing immediate execution. Entering the adjoining chamber, the atmosphere felt more relaxed.

Continuing onwards, near the major collapse, a whole in the wall reveals a smugglers tunnel. Where the footprints of the miners are set into the sediment.

Walking further along, Steve shared that along a wall, near the corner of the tunnel, was as close as one can get to the collapsed chamber and is where he feels uneasy. No one knows for sure how much of the tunnel collapsed or whether those who died were killed instantly, suffered prolonged agony from their injuries their moans and cries gradually quietening, or starved or suffocated to death in the realisation that help was not forth coming and with the candles having burned out, surrounded by total darkness faced the inevitable knowing all hope was lost and waited to draw their final breath.  Their bodies concealed, unable to be recovered due to the dangers involved, the story of their final hours never to be told. Here Abbie sensed claustrophobia, a sense of being trapped. Steve confirmed that one occasion he had heard a loud low sounding donk noise from this area.

Further along to an area where a huge slab had fallen, Abbie on the recce, in tears had picked up on the grieving families desperate to find the bodies of their loved ones and the devastation that left its mark. Another band of energy was picked up by Abbie who shared that when she first entered the cave, approaching the Saxon area, she heard a low rumble, a sound synonymous with a rock fall, despite no physical validation for this having just happened.

Moving on, Steve showed an area along Wagon Way where on occasion, he will remove stone for repairs and the powdered limestone used for mortar.

Another area that was closed off to the group is where the floor appeared almost cobbled from stone bricks on the floor and is where the crane was used, an extremely dangerous area. A faced wall shaped like a globe covered in writing, perhaps purposely designated for the signatures of stonemasons: R. Rowecliffe, Tiverton, 1881. Others dated 1913, 1927, 1929, to 1931 to 1981 etc.,

A mess area was revealed where workers would have come to eat their packed lunches, take a well-earned time out and have a relaxed chat and laugh with fellow works, had a calm atmosphere to it.

During this tour no evp or other sounds were captured.

The Investigation Tour

The tour began with some sage advice from Steve to keep feet firmly on the walkways and not climb the loose chipping slopes when 5a whispered “Tom” was recorded.

He explained how it was the Romans who first begun to quarry the stone outside and eventually continued to mine into the hillside, probably using local labour rather than Legionnaires or Roman citizens. Disclosing that the Anglo-Saxon tunnel was the only one of its type 6a heavy exhale was captured.

The Anglo-Saxon excavation is distinguished by its long central corridor, with pillars arches, low roofed with box like alcoves to the left and right. A wall in an alcove bore the tell-tale markings of how blocks were hewn from the solid stone with directional pick markings revealing whether the quarryman was left or righthanded and the shadow lines of individual block rows were visible. Moving further along to a mason’s chamber, evidence of several tallow candles that had been attached to the walls with clay, was visible with their scorch marks still black from soot. Their black patches lined in a row high up the wall because the masons preferred the light to be reflected from the ceiling reducing shadow on the stone as they carved when 7a childlike voice asked, “pray for me” and received a whispered reply of “no” was recorded.

At the end of the Anglo-Saxon tunnel, Christina intuited the procession of a small group of people dressed in white hooded cloaks, one in front and three pairs walking behind. Heading into the Norman area of the quarry where these stone blocks would have been used for buildings such as the Tower of London, etc. Standing in front of the Chapel 8a man’s breathy “it’s her” was captured.

The Chapel is the only chamber in the entire 40 acres that has the distinct inward slanting pillars and walls and was where Catholic services would have been held in secret during the reformation when Henry VIII destroyed many churches and banned Catholic mass and other services. The group slowly moved onward and amongst the shuffling 9a whisper called out asking, “can you get Tony”.

Still in the Norman section, nearing the left-hand entrance is part of the ancient quarry and dates back to circa 1450s. Named Wagon Road visitors are closest to the ceiling as this road was raised, the original floor lever being on the other side of the fence. The raised area is indeed a roadway and was used by horse drawn wagons to transport the stone.

The group move further into the back of the complex, to the more modern area and deep under the hill, each pillar supporting the weight of 40.000 tons. Following Steve into the depths of the cave 10a whisper that said, “look at you man”.

Walking past caverns filled with rutted topsoil where crops would have been force grown and warned to be sticky underfoot, past a flooded chamber, Sallyann and Edwina instantly experienced terrible head pain. Moving onward to catch up with the rest of the group the pain vanished and 11a gruff male voice that shouted out “Steve” was recorded.

Further along, fragments of wire and old broken sheets lay scattered on the floor that were used to cover pots to stop them getting over watered when 12a whispered “hey” and “urgh” was captured as Steve chatted, as was 13a male chuckle.

Reaching the end of that corridor Sallyann experienced pain to the back of her head. Steve shared that it would have taken a quarryman 12 hours or more to cut a block using a saw, one of which could be seen when 14a breath was recorded and was also heard by Sallyann at the time.

In the location where Steve recounted the death of Charlie Gush, having known his son Cecil, who had fallen victim to the Spanish flu, when 15a whisper called out “Gaynor”.

Having moved further on Sallyann experienced a mild pain to the front of her head. The team arrived at the marking of Anthony Northcott written in clay, master mason and tally man, and where Steve divulged how the church had leased the quarry as the majority of the quarried stone was being used in the construction of churches, cathedrals etc.

In this marking the letter y and the number 8 can be seen. These are a record of the yardage of stone cut out. His name can be found in other parts of the caves too. Noticeable is the letter A crossed with the letter V. Beer stone had to be placed in a building as it had formed on the seabed, it could not be placed sideways with the sediment levels vertical as it would crumble, therefore the mason marked the stone with an inverted V so that other masons would know which way the stone had to be placed. A hierarchy had been established within the subterranean community of workers, with the masons on the pinnacle looking down at those considered to be beneath them.

Once the team arrived at this mark, Steve drew the groups attention to the writing on the wall, literally.

Returning to the Roman entrance, the ruts of topsoil were found and is where mushrooms and rhubarb where force grown during the 1940-1950s. All the produce grown was packed and sent to London overnight by train in cold wooden boxes that had been stored in the caves, arriving nice and fresh in time for the London markets.

On a more personal level is the location of the name of a good friend who died at sea.

One location of the cave is dangerous from when the collapse happened in the mid-1700s and responsible for a lot of the eastern part of the mine being unstable.

By the left side entrance on the right wall is a carve out shape. This would have housed a wooden crucifix that the miners would place a hand on to keep them safe and allow them to return home unscathed. Many accidents happened from cave-ins, to being crushed, accidents with saws and pickaxes, being trampled etc

The Investigation

Team 1

Before the investigation began Christina intuited a woman in white roaming the woodland area behind the café.

Session 1. Roman Area.

The group collected equipment and prepared for their vigil in the oldest part of the complex, the Roman excavation and home to the Colyton tracer.

Walking round and getting their bearings an evp of 16a raspy whisper calling out “help me” was captured on one of the camcorders.

Christina unnerved, called out that something had gone up behind her when 17a whisper said, “I did not” denied it. Candis divulged that she had begun to experience a pain in her shoulder.

While checking equipment 18a young female voice called out “Claire”: interesting as no one in the team was named Claire and eliminates the possibility of it being a team member calling out to another.

Shortly after the same 19female voice called out “careful”.

Soon after when Jaime shared that she felt scared an evp of 20a male voice that said “around me” was captured.

Candis, upon entering the location experienced a pain in her left shoulder. As she walked around filming. stopped in her tracks believing someone had run across her path, as she recounted her encounter 21a male voice that called out “nothing” was recorded soon followed by 22a whispered “tired”.

Moving further along the main tunnel the team spread out and Sallyann called out a welcome and explained the groups intention asking for spirits to make themselves heard or seen when 23a whispered “care of me”, heard by Abbie to have originated further down from a passageway to have said careful.

Further up Christina sensed a lot of distress as she intuited lots of voices and Jaime also sensed lots of chatter.

Faint heavy sighs were heard by the team but not recorded. The team moved to where the sounds seemed to emanate from when a 24 whispered call for “Nisa, help me” was captured.

With team members either side of the corridor it was difficult to hold a conversation, speech was garbled from the way the sound carried and bounced around the Anglo-Saxon chambers. Looking across the corridor to check on team members it was noticed that Luke’s head would disappear, a headless body visible. Luke called out, the only male in the team, in the hope that a male voice would attract a response.

Again, Candis felt the pain in her shoulder and noticed it seemed to occur every time she walked by the area to the left of the chamber housing the tracer. Christina shared that she sensed multiple voices shouting, with one male in particular coming forward and was the one who had gone up behind and startled her previously and sensed sadness with him.

Sallyann asked for any spirits to come forward and give their name to one of the team when 25a “shhh” was captured.

What sounded like chanting was debunked as the sound of the other team along with the matrixing of the sound of water dripping as it filtered and echoed through the passages, tunnels and chambers.

Christina intuited a raspy breathless voice pleading her for help. Again, Candis felt the shoulder pain re-immerge. This time she asked questions in her head and for the answers to be given to Christina, in the hope of getting some sort of clarification. The information gleaned was it had been caused by an accident involving the shoulder and a pickaxe. Numerous accidents would have occurred in the quarry as health and safety considerations didn’t exist as life and labour was cheap, considered less important than livestock. The repetitive physical motion of the work would have caused muscular and joint injury, what is now recognised as repetitive strain injury.

Unable to understand anything that was being said among the group, they returned to location of the tracer. Walking back along the corridor 26a male voice loudly called out “no”, but this was not heard at the time.

The group moved to the area behind the Colyton trace, an area Sallyann was drawn to, and stood in a circle. Having called out Sallyann felt an energy present that was also felt by Jaime to her left growing in strength and Nikki to her right felt her heart begin to race. Indication that a spirit energy was present when Nikki felt something touch her leg below the knee.

Sallyann called out and threw a stone out of the circle and asked for it to be thrown back when Nisa heard a breath but on review this turned out to be an indecipherable whisper as Christina intuited the image of someone kneeling by the tracer like at an alter and soon saw a face pop up next to Candis as 27a faint breath was recorded.

Christina and Nisa heard someone behind them swallow yet there was nobody there. Jamie had also heard someone clear their throat. Christina felt and heard someone stood behind her and Candis. She then sensed what she described as someone who was crumpled and broken, unable to speak and felt that this was the spirit that she had intuited sadness from earlier. Showing him compassion, speaking words of kindness asked if he had been involved in a cave, if it was his raspy breath that had been heard as he fought for every inhale moving round the circle when Luke suddenly felt a cool breeze across his face the first and last time while the team were in this area. The team were hearing sounds that seemed to be distant but it’s hard to say if these were noises from the other teams, rocks falling, filtering through the corridors and chambers. The team agreed that they were hearing many noises from different directions, but this is hard to confirm as due to the loud consist drips from everywhere in the system, and the possibility of sounds from other teams and factor in the way sound transmits in the enormous cavern, unless it was captured on the audio it is difficult to confirm.

Candis still had the intense pain in her shoulder and Christina intuited that the pain had been an injury with a pickaxe when 28an odd noise was captured in the background.

Sallyann asked for the pain to be removed and the energy to take a step back and she soon felt the pain ease. Christina then envisioned someone wearing a white hooded cloak kneeling in front of the tracer window. Luke, holding the Tascam had felt a tap on the device, suspecting a water droplet to have landed on it was surprised to find the surface dry.

Walking past the wall with Way Out painted on it, Sallyann for the second time that evening instantly felt pain to the back of her head that only passed once she had left the area.

Session 2. The Chapel

Moving on to the Chapel 29, 30, 31 heavy breaths were recorded.

As the team progressed forward 32a man’s voice that called out “no” was captured.

Arriving at the Chapel Sallyann noticed a black shadow dart behind a pillar to the far left. Trying to debunk this as an effect of torch light passing the area didn’t achieve a similar.

Candis using the camcorder noticed that arriving at the Chapel the infra-red lamp had gone out. Checking the lamp, everything was in order. It was switched of and back on. Standing further back from the Chapel the same thing happened again. Once again, the equipment was checked and everything was in order, so the lamp was switched off and back on. Wondering if there was something happening Candis asked for the light to be turned off and it did just that on request. This scenario was repeated with the same result each time, the light going out on request. Sallyann was called over to witness the occurrence and even when she made the same request the same thing happened instantly yet asking for the light to be switched back on nothing happened. Checking the equipment over proved everything to be intact. The lamp itself ran of batteries and a cold shoe attachment so there was no power connection to the camcorder. High humidity can cause interference in the connection with the ir lamp and the hot shoe of the camcorder. This could have been the cause for the light’s behaviour.

Leaving the location and heading back out of the cave, the pain in Candis’s shoulder returned. End of session

Session 3. Cave Collapse of 1758

On the lower level beyond the Wagon Road Luke placed a hard hat in front of the rubble as a trigger object, with a camera locked on to it: the idea being should it move, it would be recorded or heard but it remained stationary. Yet this simple act seemed a poignant acknowledgement that lives in these dark caves had been lost.

The team gathered around the table to the back of the cavern to use glass divination for communication. Starting the vigil, Nikki called out. Almost instantly the glass slid across the table and followed every request. It was confirmed that the group were communicating with a male energy who was happy that the group were there and confirmed that there were 9 spirits present in that part of the quarry when a dragging sound was heard by some of the team but very faint on the audio. The energy had been a stonemason from the 19th century who had carved by eye, did not use a template but had carved tracers. The glass agreed they had drunk in the Stonemasons Arms and noticed a strong odour of fresh raw sweat. Sallyann asked if the energy new how many people had worked down in the quarry and captured 33a faint whisper which replied, “want to everyone”.

It was also confirmed that there would have been animals pulling the stones. Having asked for a name when what sounds like 34running footsteps were captured.

Asking if there was someone this soul wanted to speak to 35an odd noise in the background was captured.

The name Frederick Phillips was picked up and confirmed. Nikki sensed and asked if he knew the name Tom Archer which was confirmed as a friend and fellow stonemason, and that the pair would go drinking together. A faint, distant dragging sound was heard by the team that was not picked up by the recorder.

Nikki felt that the group were being circled by an energy moving around them which was confirmed. Christina who had sensed a group in white cloaks asked if they were present which was confirmed and before Frederick’s time of the 1800s. performing acts against the Holy book that he did not like involving children some of which he was able to communicate with. Christina sensed the head cloaked figure to be stood by an opening, watching, and when asked, the glass pointed in the direction Christina had indicated.

Jaime sensed a child as Sallyann briefly felt upset, and Nikki sensed the named Samuel, confirmed to be 9 years of age. When asked if there were seven people wearing white, some of the team heard faint whispering. On review of the audio, which had to be amped up, the sound of 36a whisper that seems to say “she knows” was recorded.

Frederick was asked if he could encourage the child to come forward to talk to the group. Jaime felt a strong tingling sensation as everyone noticed that the chamber, they were in had suddenly grown visibly darker. When Sallyann called out to the child named Samuel, she instantly felt a strong energy around her and as she asked if this was the child the glass moved towards her for yes and then sought validation from Frederick that this was indeed Samuel who had moved the glass. Samuel shared that he didn’t like being there and feared the man in white and wanting help. Preparing to help the young boy a distant whisper was captured when Sallyann asked Samuel to stand next to one of the women round the table. Activity was mounting as Christina saw a shadow pass the wall opposite and Nikki shared her legs suddenly felt freezing cold. Attempting to help this boy Sallyann asked him to look for the white light. Jaime and Nikki heard chanting but on review of the audio this was debunked as being one of the other teams.

Calling out encouragement for the boy to run to the light saw the glass move round the table picking up speed, indicating another energy had come forward, ready to communicate. Nikki intuited the words “freedom no”. Was this a sign that someone was refusing to allow the boy his eternal freedom? When calling out asking if this was Frederick or Tom, the glass remained motionless and 37a male whisper that called “Uncle Tom” was captured on one of the camcorders.

Christina intuited a sinister laugh as the glass begun to move picking up pace and when Jaime asked if Samuel was still present 38a male “hmm” or

39a male voice answered “gone, gone” was clearly heard by the group and 40another “hmm, hmm” as members exclaimed what was heard.

Discussing what had transpired, it was agreed that the boy hadn’t entered the light having been prevented by the male energy dressed in a white cloak, who Christina perceived as standing by Wagon Road, watching with 3 pairs of two behind him, also dressed in white hooded cloaks. The same procession formation she had intuited walk in front of her during the tour and after, chanting as they walk along.

Small bats returned to roost flying overhead as changing tactics Sallyann appealed in an upbeat manner to positive energies to come forward the Christina envisioned the procession of seven walkaway. The glass moved in the same manner as the presence before who agreed they had come to communicate with good intention. A male energy moved the glass with forceful deliberation as if angry as Christina felt a tightness in her chest in connection to him. Using the glass, confirmed he was not happy to talk with the group being a religious man. Confirming that the group were following the Christian doctrine of life after death, of the resurrection and seeking proof that there is communication between those living and those who have passed. Christina sensed the word impurity and Nikki felt the name Francis to be relevant as the energy seemed more accepting and at ease when it was revealed that two of the group had been taught by Nuns. When asked if the boy Samuel was under his protection was met with silence, Christina intuited “he’s not a good boy”.

Before leaving, the group formed a circle to unify their energies with Nikki and Nisa arms raised to form an entrance into the centre. Sallyann spoke out, Christina saw shadows move across a wall and felt herself pushed and shoved and someone blowing air across her face. Nikki felt her arm being pushed down. Jaime detected the seven energies outside of the circle preventing the young boy from entering. Speaking words of encouragement and with the help of Frederick Phillips and Tom Archer were able to get the boy into the centre of the circle and were finally victorious and sent Samuel into the light and just as he walked into the light, he turned and smiled and waved a cheery goodbye, intuited by both Jaime and Sallyann independently.

Luke during the vigil had heard a man clearing his throat on three occasions. This was validated by Jan, who had sensed someone stood slightly behind her, who she heard clear his throat and having turned to talk to him thinking it was Richard a member of staff, who she had seen walking along Wagon Road and thought he had walked down and stood behind her to watch the group, was surprised to find nobody there. End of session.

Team 2

Session 1. Collapse of 1758

Entering the area known as Wagon Road by the collapse of 1758, the Ovilus at once supplied the word save, burn, and dope. Kelly began the vigil by calling out a welcome to any energies within the caves and explaining the groups intention. Instantly a battery drain occurred, despite being fully charged but this could also have been attributed to the cold atmosphere. This was confirmed to be a paranormal occurrence by Laura who was using dowsing rods who also connected with a male energy who couldn’t supply their name as unable to remember it, an adult who hadn’t worked in the caves nor the area. The Ovilus called out stones, trace, and time. Becky and Laura using dowsing rods connected with a male energy whose family owned the quarry and died from a heart attack in September 1968, believed to be in his 80s and suffered from memory problems.

Kelly using a pendulum connected with a child who worked with the wagons etc, and died in the cave in. Nadine picked up that he died from a cave collapse in which his leg was crushed, confirmed by the pendulum. The Ovilus called out mummy. Kelly was able to confirm that he was looking for his family and wanted help to move on.

Session 2. Centre Cavern

In the main chamber in the middle of the cave, having set the Tri-field meter, with lights out Kelly called out a welcome to any spirit energies to join them and soon felt light chested. As she asked questions Laura used dowsing rods and Kelly a pendulum to supply answers. The tri-field sounded briefly intermittently. Kelly said that working there can’t have been pleasant, jobs to be done, money to be earnt to feed the family, did what they had to do, received a reply from 41a male voice that said, “yes I did”.

It appeared that an energy they had connected with felt they were stuck down in the cave, drawn back to be with friends and fellow workers. His name not on any of the walls and was before the time of William Cawley. Kelly connected with another male energy, a bachelor who had a farm. Another male energy had worked in the quarry and lived a long and full life then the pendulum stopped moving when the Ovilus called out enough. Kelly requested the equipment to be affected when the 42loud sound of someone clearing their throat was recorded.

With nothing else experienced the group changed location.

Moving further along to another location, further back to where there is a sequence of alcoves and tunnels, the ground underfoot turning to sludge, Kelly performed an evp session but all that was captured was the sound of heavy dripping and occasional falling stones. End of session.

Session 3. Final walk round.

Plunging into to total darkness, by the Colyton chamber Kelly called out as Nadine shared, she didn’t like it there and the Ovilus gave the name Tom.

Laura U felt sad and upset and briefly felt a cold breeze on her neck. Abbie called out asking if there was anyone present who wanted to make themselves known, if they worked there as a stonemason, which Laura confirmed with dowsing rods who had been there in 1942 and later he died from Sepsis. Abbie and Laura A. both heard a loud male gruff “hmm” coming from behind them.

The group then moved to the Vestry. A secret tunnel runs from the vestry to the manor house. The quartz in the limestone was particularly noticeable in the torch light covering the plain walls with the shimmering sparkle of glitter. Cautiously walking along a slippery slope. Abbie called out to any monks in the vicinity to come forward, but it remained silent. Moving along, the group passed the mess area, where workers would consume their lunch, and place their belongings.

Continuing to another location where Laura A, told Abbie how she had seen a dark shadow move along a wall when she was wondering by alone, when Abbie explained that was a thin wall where the cave in of 1758 had occurred on the other side.

Abbie then took the group to another area where another collapse took place. En-route a 43female voice that called “Evelyn”.

Arriving at the designated area, Abbie shared that at this cave in, it wasn’t that the bodies couldn’t be retrieved but that the owners didn’t want to, so it was the families who tried to claim their loved ones. Having imparted that this was where Steve and Abbie had heard a male croak, Abbie called out and it was noticed that it grew increasingly darker. Looking towards where a glowstick had been placed on the floor, Laura Underwood witnessed a shadow figure walk passed, blocking the coloured glow as it moved. Abbie called out asking for a name to be given to someone in the group, a team member reported that their torch had suddenly switched on by itself.

A joint discussion saw the group return to the collapse of 1758 where Kelly had been performing a lone vigil using her pendulum to see what information she would be able to glean. She connected with a male energy who gave his name as Edward who held the position of foreman. He confirmed that he would not let anyone cross over until he knows it’s safe.

Team 3

Session 1

Towards the back of the caves, where the name Gush is seen on the wall, Team 3, began their first session. A shadow figure was seen on the wall and footsteps were heard by David. Not experiencing anything the group decided to move further along. Coming to a halt, the Ovilus called out Grandma as Edwina, a grandmother herself felt giddy. Talking was heard but this was debunked as being the other team.

At the 1500 wall, some of the team used dowsing rods including Katie who called out to the spirit energies of the cave she connected with an energy whose name was on the wall. Becky felt her right hand to throb painfully without reason Could she have been experiencing an injury sustained by some poor soul in the past?  Katie connected to someone who passed in the cave along with colleagues when the ceiling collapsed. The Ovilus called out found. Katie received confirmation that the red cross on the wall marked where their body laid having been trapped under the rubble, as she felt their strong energy present. The name of this energy not marked on the wall. Seeking to discover how many had died in the collapse Katie counted and the rods indicated 7 when one of the women felt shivery, her heart racing and was soon overwhelmed caused by the rush of energy of the seven souls, feeling their sadness. The vigil drew to a close as the Ovilus called out male.

Session 2: The Roman Area

Team 3 began their second vigil in the Roman section. Once again, the group took up their rods. Katie called out sensing a male voice would receive a better result David called out without response. Katie shared that earlier in the evening she had seen someone looking out of the window tracer.

Session 3: The collapse of 1758

The group gathered around the table next to the collapse of 1758. Using an ITC device, the month of December was given. David called out as the rem pod was heard to sound. Katie felt her hair was tugged. The ITC device gave the word outsider: could this be a reference to the “outsider” above the caves or possibly the team? Katie used her dowsing rods and established that several energies were stood behind them. The ITC device gave the name Edward which was confirmed by the rods to be the name of the man in charge of the team of men who had died. Becky felt the back of her helmet was being touched on three occasions which was confirmed with the aid of dowsing rods to have been by one of the male sprit energies and that 47 spirits who wanted help had women waiting at home for them, one of which was named Nancy. End of session

End of investigation.
