Crop Circles
The Crop Circle Mystery

The crop circle mystery continues to astound and mesmerize all who enters into this bizarre phenomena. My 20 years of research into this mystery coincides with the same conclusions of other seasoned researchers – that despite all the talk of hoaxing, there is a very deep mystery at the heart of all of this, and on a more disturbing note, our authorities are all to aware of a genuine phenomena, but will go to great lengths at promoting the hoax theory as the only theory. I’m hoping this article with give some food for thought to anyone who is sceptical about the crop circles being a genuine paranormal phenomena.
It is common knowledge amongst long-term crop circle researchers that over several nights during the summer of 1990, the BBC in conjunction with the military sat on a hilltop in Wiltshire to hopefully capture the creation of a crop circle, and that they did indeed capture on infra red camera such an event, showing the pattern being created by balls of light (not to be confused with the well known hoax of 1996 created by a camper on a Wiltshire hilltop), but that this footage by the BBC/military has never been made publicly available. What was shown to the public was a different piece of film footage, filmed on a different night, of a huge ball of light moving slowly across a crop field, which is still very impressive. This was my first inkling that the authorities were not telling the truth about what they knew regarding this phenomena.
This was the same summer that professional photographer Steve Alexander filmed, in daylight, a globe of light (about the size of a beach call), whilst he was sitting on a hilltop in Wiltshire. This amazing piece of video film footage shows the light travel over a crop field which already had an elaborate crop circle within it, and it moved across into the neighbouring pasture field, and just behind a farmer who was in his tractor. The farmer was interviewed, and said it was literally a big ball of light that moved past his tractor. Steve continues filming, where eventually the ball of light shoots vertically up into the air out of sight.
Another extraordinary piece of film footage comes from 2 Germans, visiting the Wiltshire crop circles in the summer of 1991, whereby they film, during the evening, a ball of light over a crop field, which flies directly over a crop circle, and continues to move toward them at the edge of the crop field. Bizarrely, it appears that the light gets smaller as it moves closer to them. Much of this sequence can be found on the excellent crop circle documentary “Crop Circle Communique” (good luck on finding that on E-bay, or alternatively, have a kind word with yours truly).
Also during the summer of 1991, another extraordinary incident occurred, this time within the UK Prime Minister’s place of residence, Chequers. This location is under a 24 hour maximum security zone, yet, somehow, something put down a crop circle in the crop field in the design of a Celtic cross. How can this be achieved?

Let’s move away a little from the real phenomena, and onto the thorny issue of hoaxing. Even I admit that hoaxing of crop circles does happen, however, there is without a doubt in my mind that the authorities have paid for teams of men to hone their hoaxing skills, in order to fool the public into thinking that ALL crop circles are hoaxed. Just because someone can prove that a certain £5 note happens to be a fake, would you then use the logic to ascertain that ALL £5 notes are fake?
The hoaxing story got out into the media, by two pensioners, known as “Doug & Dave” working secretly with the now defunct newspaper “Today”. They ran a front page headline in September 1991 “The Men Who Conned The World”, stating that they had hoaxed all circles since 1978. Colin Andrews (mentioned earlier), along with other crop circle researchers, were present in the crop field along with the Today journalists and TV camera crew, to demonstrate their skills, using a crop field whereby they had the farmer’s permission to create a simple circle. What is important here is that this was done on a sunny afternoon. What a mess! The overall design was a shambles. We were meant to believe that these 2 pensioners would traverse the counties of southern England and create elaborate patterns in the field in the darkness of the night, and sometimes laying down upto 3 or 4 different patterns in one night over several counties? The researchers inspected their handiwork, and stated in front of the camera crews that it beared no resemblance to the genuine phenomena. What a shame this important piece of film footage never made it out into the media, indeed, the only time I have ever seen it is from the aforementioned documentary “Crop Circle Communique”. Colin Andrews approached the 2 pensioners, having aeriel shots of formations he knew were not man-made, and asked them how did they create these? And they looked at it, then looked at each other in silence, and then said, “We didn’t make them”. It mattered not. The damage was done. As far as the public at large were concerned, everyone could now go back to sleep at nights, another mystery solved. The two pensioners, and indeed the Today newspaper also neglected to comment on the fact that crop circles have been appearing long before 1978 (and I urge all members who want to research this phenomena further to go out and read Terry Wilson’s excellent book “The Secret History of crop Circles”).
It is important to note of the incredible experiences known hoaxers have had whilst out in the fields etching out their designs. I have spoken to a few of them, and several have stepped forward to admit they have hung up their stomping boards for good after experiencing bewildering phenomena whilst out in the fields at night. Far too many incidents to go into here, but briefly, experiences such as witnessing balls of light inspecting their handiwork, witnessing long, dark apparitions looming over them in the fields, and with one particular team of hoaxers in 1991, the realisation that the very design they were going to put down in a specific location, had already appeared when they drove to that location.
A supernatural energy is at work here, and even the hoaxers admit to this.
Enough about the hoaxing, let’s get back to the true wonderful phenomena.
There is one incident that I must refer to in this article, and that is the now legendary formation that is known as the Julia Set (a mathemetical term). Two aerial photographs of this ethereal formation appears here in this article, taken by professional photographer and crop circle researcher, Lucy Pringle. This appeared on a Sunday afternoon, right opposite Stonehenge, in July 1996. Drivers going along the busy A303 pulled over to stop and witness a surreal apparition, a mist as it were, ascend down over the crop field. It hovered about 2 to 3 feet over the crop, and then started to spin slowly. As it did so, circles could be seen appearing in the crops beneath it, and as the mist expanded, more circles appeared, and the mist started to spin faster. By this time, more and more cars were pulling over to the roadside, to watch this spectacle. They did not understand the full implications of what they were witnessing at the time. Here, the rational mind kicks in, trying to ascertain a logical balance as to what is happening. A pilot flew over this field at 5.30pm, with a medical doctor who wanted to see crop circles from the air. They corroborated that at 5.30pm, this stunning formation was not there, but that after refuelling in a nearby airfield, they then crossed back over to Stonehnege at 6.15pm, and there it was, in all it’s glory.
Scientists have carried out much research into this phenomena, with the most impressive laboratory tests being carried out on Wiltshire’s laid crop stalks by a team known as The BLT Research Team in USA, and also by a Dutch scientist Dr Hasselhoff (who is so passionate about the phenomena as he knows there is a true mystery going on here after he and his team were fortunate enough to witness a crop circle appearing in an elaborate design – and it was such an experience that has spurred him on to look at the science behind the phenomena). They have both published peer reviewed papers, whereby conclusions are reached that a type of plasma energy spirals downward from the air to generate the patterns, and clearly, the energy has an intelligence to it, as we are not looking at a natural meteorological effect.
My own personal experiences with these magical wonders started in south-east Cornwall with the Plymouth UFO Research Group (of which I've been a UFO investigator with for 20 years) in the early 1990s. During those summer evenings, a small team of us would go and sit in these ethereal patterns, and taking many photographs (digital cameras weren't invented back then!). Several of us caught on camera incredible balls of blue light, hovering over the circles, over several evenings. This lead us onto doing a 3 year study and research of these lights (which we now commonly refer to as 'orbs') from 1991 to 1994, and little did we realise at the time, that it was us doing the pioneering research into the whole orb phenomena. Our reports and photographs were published in several paranormal magazines and journals across the UK and Europe (remember - there was no internet in those days!), which spurred other paranormal groups across Europe to also conduct research into this phenomena. We also just missed out on seeing a single circle forming at the top end of the field, whilst we were down the bottom end of the field inspecting 3 circles which had appeared a few days earlier. (summer 1991).
You can often find me lounging about the Wiltshire countryside during the summer months, looking out for any fresh formations, but I think the time has come for me to put my own personal conclusions/opinions to this most bewildering phenomena, so here goes:
Why southern England, and in particular, Wiltshire? Crop circles continue to appear all around the world, but it is fair to say the majority, and most impressive, appear in Wiltshire. Little did we realise at the time, but back down in Cornwall when we had those circles in the early 1990s, there was an ancient upright standing stone in the pasture field right next to the crop field. This particular stone is known as 'Witch Henge', and here lies what I believe to be just a part of the secret. Just look at the many ancient sites which cover Wiltshire, far, far too many to list here. I strongly believe the non-human intelligence that creates these formations draws some of it's energy from these ancient sites. What is this non-human intelligence? I believe it to be highly advanced/evolved spiritual beings, who exist in the higher dimensions, much in the same way as UFOs. They call upon the help of the energies in and around the ancient sites, they call upon the help of ethereal beings/elementals, and they call upon the help of Mother Earth herself. All of these energies combined together help generate these beautiful creations for all of us to enjoy. I also believe that some of these energies manifest as balls of light, and if you are very lucky, you might just see a fully manifested fairy or angel from the spiritual realms. Why do they do it? This I want to keep as simple as possible. To evoke a magical sense of awe and wonder within our human conciousness, to reawaken our soul as it were. You could argue why don't these non-human intelligences do so in a more blatant manner? It is my belief that only we, ourselves, can reawaken our souls, and these supernatural energies are merely 'aiding' us to achieve that, with the ultimate goal being to do so on a truly global level. And who knows, maybe one day, this will be achieved.
